Frequently Asked Questions

What music will you play?

The million dollar question! We use two things to gauge the music at your wedding; your music request form and what the dancefloor is doing. We ask every couple to complete our detailed music request form prior to the wedding. We’ll use this as a blueprint for the night, working your requests into the set and keeping up the energy with carefully chosen tracks. The most common genres we play at weddings include Motown, Soul, R’n’B, Hip Hop, Rock, Indie, Disco, House, Commercial EDM, Garage, Drum ‘n’ Bass… and we love it when couples have a favourite style of music that we can really go to town with! You can also ban any music you don’t wish to hear. Naturally we’ll plan and prepare in advance, but the best dancefloor moments are born from spontaneity and on-the-fly thinking. Playing not just the music you want to hear, but the music you didn’t even realise you wanted to hear. This is why a skilled DJ is so crucial if you want an incredible evening.

How much do you talk on the mic?

Long gone are the days of the cheesy MC announcing every song and talking too much - you won’t get any of that with us. We will coordinate and compère the cake cutting and first dance, and make any announcements you’d like us to. We let the music do the talking.

How much is the deposit?

The deposit is 30% of the total amount (e.g. for our £950 DJ Package, the deposit is £285). The remaining balance is due no later than 14 days before the wedding day. All prices can be found on our various Packages pages.

What happens if my DJ falls ill or has an accident?

We have a backup plan in the event of a crisis. In the unlikely event that your DJ is taken ill and the other two DJs are booked for other weddings, we have a small network of DJs we know and trust who we can contact to make sure you aren’t left without a DJ at the last minute. All of your wedding details and music requests can be emailed to them instantly. We’ve never needed to use this backup plan but it’s vital to have one.

What happens if Covid affects my wedding?

This is a really important thing to ask before booking a supplier now. Basically, if mandatory Covid restrictions prevent your wedding from going ahead, you are entitled to a full refund (including deposit) if you wish to cancel. If you wish to postpone to a later date, we will honour your original quote. See Terms & Conditions for more info.

When will you setup?

Typically we will arrive at least one hour before we are due to start playing. We then set up either during the meal or in the turnaround period. We can set up in the morning if needed - we won’t charge extra if your venue is fairly local but there may be an additional fee for early set ups that are far away as we’ll need to spend the whole day there.

Who will be our DJ on the night?

We share bookings equally among the three of us (generally opting for venues closest to where we live) but if you have met one of us at a wedding fair, or seen us perform at another wedding, you can absolutely ask to have that DJ, assuming they’re not already booked!

My venue has a sound limiter.

That’s okay, we’ll keep an eye on the meter to avoid triggering the pesky thing! Venues with a particularly sensitive sound limiter might not be suitable for sax/bongo players.

Can my guests ask for requests on the night?

Of course! We’ll try and work any and all requests into our set, assuming they aren’t on your banned list.

Can we see you mix?

Click here! We also have some mixes on our Sax and Bongos pages, and lots of cool stuff on our Instagram (aren’t you following us yet!?) We can also do a custom mini-mix Mp3 with some of your favourite songs before you book, free of charge - just drop us a message.

A guest at my wedding has photosensitive epilepsy.

No problem. Let us know in advance and we can adapt our lighting to suit them. No strobe lighting, specific colours etc.

Do you charge us to download any songs you don’t have?

Nope! We have over 20,000 tracks but if we’re missing something on your list, we’ll purchase it.

How far do you travel?

Nationwide. For 95% of enquires, our prices are as stated on our website. If your venue requires an overnight stay, we may charge an additional fee to cover a hotel. Venues in Scotland, Wales and Central London may incur a higher fee due to extra time, fuel, hotels and or congestion/parking charges. Please get in touch for an exact quote.

Do we need to feed the DJ/musicians?

There’s no requirement to feed the evening musicians (DJ/Sax/Bongos) but we always appreciate some evening buffet if there is any!

When booking Tim our wedding pianist, we usually ask for a meal for him.

We have a band/singer also performing in the evening, can you liaise with them?

Sure. Put us in touch and we’ll ensure everything runs smoothly in terms of equipment, music and set times.

What time do you play music from and til?

We’ll start when your reception begins (usually after the wedding breakfast) and we play until midnight as standard. Later finishes are charged at an additional £100 per hour.

Will you DJ events other than weddings?

Sure, get in touch and we can discuss your event!

Can the DJ’s lights match our colour scheme?

Absolutely; we have complete control over the colour of all our lights. We can match the shade perfectly on the night in a few seconds. Just let us know on your music request form.

We LOVE a certain genre of music. Can you handle it?

We enjoy nothing more than a couple who really loves a specific genre of music. Chat to us about what you like and we’ll make a huge feature of it during your wedding. Garage? Drum ‘n’ Bass? Rock? Ibiza House? Electro-swing? 90s Boy Bands?! Don’t settle for someone who will just Google a few of your favourite artists before the wedding. The DJ should be intimately familiar with your favourite genre; artists, tracks, remixes… right down to where all the best mix points are. You need a DJ that “gets it.”

What DJ equipment do you use?

We use Pioneer DJJ-1000 or SZ-2 controllers with Rekordbox or Serato software.

Can we ban any music we don’t like?

Yes. The most commonly banned music is cheese/dance routine songs, or any songs which may bring back sad memories for anyone at the wedding.

Do you have event insurance?

Each DJ has £10,000,000 Public Liability Insurance and all our equipment is PAT tested yearly. Certificates can be provided on request.

Can you invite certain guests to join us during/after the first dance?

Certainly. Father and daughter, mother and son, bridesmaids and groomsmen etc. Just let us know on your music request form.

Why should we book you over someone else?

We’re glad you asked. Read this: What makes a great wedding DJ?

Can you play music from other cultures?

Absolutely! We’ve performed at weddings where there was lots of Bhangra, Afrobeats, Reggaeton, Turkish House, traditional Greek music, traditional Jewish wedding music and more, with huge success. There are two important things here: 1. It’s helpful for you to give us a list of songs. Youtube links work best because then we know we’re getting the exact version of the song you like. 2. How much of the evening would you like to dedicate to this music? If for example you’d like an entire evening of Turkish music, it might make sense to hire a specialist Turkish DJ. Have a chat with us and we can help you decide what is best for you.
